This test drive is meant to provide those who are interested in applying to the game an opportunity to not only experience the setting and mechanics, but to interact with players and characters already in the game!
The threads on the Test Drive Meme may be used for both sample sections of the applications and those already in game may use the threads here to supplement up to ten comments for their AC regardless of whether the player you threaded with applied.
It is up to the discretion of each individual player on whether they would like to use what happens here on the Test Drive Meme as their IC intro into the game.
PLEASE REMEMBER: The monster your character picks will not be official until you are accepted into the game. This is your opportunity to try out all sorts of monster types until you find the one that suits you and your character best!

The Prompts:
Prompt 1 - Arrival: Having just arrived to Halloween Town, you may feel a little queasy. That is entirely natural. You're in a giant circular room with whatever it is you may have brought with you. A very tall figure walks out of the shadows and he's incredibly pale... that is until you realize the hand reaching out to you is not bone-thin, oh no, it is actual bone. Meet the ruler of Halloween Town and the king of Halloween, Jack Skellington. He greets you with a big smile and exclaims with joy how happy he is that you made it and how much happier he is to see you, one hand held out in greeting and the other holding the Jack o' Laptop he has ready for you.
Perhaps you stay to listen to him explain what awaits you and he will then happily escort you outside into the town to provide you a quick explanation before he excuses himself to greet the other new arrivals, leaving you to explore the town. Or, perhaps, the mere sight of a skeleton was... not what you were expecting and you ran out screaming before he can get more than a "Hello-" out.
Either way:
Prompt 2 - The Town: Whether you ran out screaming or were guided out into the town, there are most certainly monsters and ghouls all about. If you were patient enough to wait for an explanation, you know that they are the residents of this holiday. If you ran out screaming? Well, you might be getting more than a few scares- we mean... stares. But the town is just waiting for you to explore! But something is strange. When you look into a mirror or see a glass you look just a tiny bit off. And perhaps you feel just a tiny bit different.
Maybe you don't even have a reflection and all you can feel at the moment is a deep need to feed. Surely someone can help you... provided you can stop screaming at the sight of the citizens long enough.
We wouldn't recommend attacking any of the citizens, however, newborn monster that you are. We wouldn't want you to be a spirit so early in your visit.
Prompt 3 - The First Door: You've now been in Halloween Town for several days and while the zombies eat brains and the vampires drink blood, no one has tried to attack you (unless you've attacked them first, of course). The mayor, driving in his car announces a town meeting! Everyone must come to the Town Hall, even our new arrivals. Jack and Sally explain that Easter is nearly here! And the Easter Bunny has been kind enough to invite you all to experience what it's like to get ready for the holiday! It is time to take your trip through the Hitherlands to the door of Holidays. The path is laid out with Jack o' lanterns and linked bat-light strings between the trees to guide you to the doors. Don't mind that rather ominous entrance, within is perfectly safe... well... at least we think it is. As you travel along the path, you'll come across all the doors, but the one you are seeking is the one currently open. Trying to open the other doors, be it with spells or with force will result in nothing. Do you go in? Do you head back to the town?
Prompt 4 - Easter Island:Welcome to Easter Island! You may need to squint at first, since it's so bright and colorful, the complete opposite of Halloween Town. But once your vision adjusts, you'll notice something... different. You will find you are no longer any monsters but instead you're- well... to put it quite plainly, you're adorable! You have been turned into the citizens of Easter Island! The Easter Bunny welcomes you warmly, quite surprised to see so many adorable newcomers! And you'll find, perhaps without surprise at this point, that you can understand him. So what does he have planned for you?
Prompt 5 - Easter Egg Hunt: No matter what cute, adorable, and fluffy animal or egg ghost you've been turned into, there is an Easter basket waiting for you to go on a hunt! Throughout the entire island, that's yours to explore, are all sorts of different colored eggs. Each differently colored egg offers you a special reward or a certain kind of magic.
If you find:
A red egg: Will make you more inclined to hug and cuddle with the next person you see. A pink egg: Is a dark chocolate egg! Mmm chocolate. An orange egg: Is a milk chocolate egg. Mmm more chocolate. A yellow egg: Will suddenly turn into a small plush animal that replicates the animal you got turned into. It's so soft and fluffy. A green egg: Will turn into a little plastic egg-bracelet or egg earrings. Don't lose them though, the Easter Bunny asked Lady Luck to imbue them with a tiny bit of luck. A blue egg: Will make you burst out into song and you can't stop until you finish that song. A purple egg: A couple extra Holidollars and you get to take that with you back to Halloween Town.
But perhaps an egg hunt isn't something you're interested in! That's completely fine, the citizens need a lot of help getting ready for Easter for people! There's all sorts of jobs you can do! There's egg painting, egg counting, egg gathering, and basket weaving! All of these jobs pay Holidollars and you're making holidays wonderful for children everywhere!
Just don't drop the eggs! We don't want to make more egg spirits! Dropping an egg will bring you a whole day of bad luck as well.

[ kuramochi needs to start making changes to some decisions in his life. change number 1.) don't follow ryo-san when he takes weird drinks from weird people for reasons that kuramochi doesn't want to know about. that is exactly how our intrepid young shortstop has ended up here, in halloween town, surrounded by ghosts and goblins and who knows what the fuck else. it's not that he's scared or anything because he's not a baby, dammit (he's not sawamoron) but every now and then a ghost passes by and makes him jump.
plus side: he's not feeling particularly weird or anything. maybe a little hungry? craving a salad, of all things? but otherwise, totally fine. it's whatever. worse things have happened when you take drinks from strangers. with his fielding partner having disappeared, kuramochi's finding himself wandering the town with his hands stuffed in his pockets, looking for all the world like a punkass gangster. really, he's all bark and no bite.

town, pt ii.
[ well, when in rome, right? this place is weird as hell, but youichi's going to take to it just fine, bringing the room 3 tradition to halloween town: that is, he'll be waiting behind a trashcan with a fairly terrifying looking mask on his face. when somebody walks by, he pops out and looms over the person: he doesn't even need to say anything.
that doesn't stop him from laughing after he gets a reaction though. ] Hyaha!! Should've seen your face!

3. wildcard
[ hit me with your best shot! ♥ youichi is a lycanthrope. feel free to pm w/ any questions! ]
[A little over 2000 years old, but sure, what the hell. Just a kid. He smirked under his mask, sucking on the candy given to him. He liked this town. People were made into fun things and others sways assumed he was a child.]
[He shrugged.]
You're. A. Kid. [he said, like repeating it, but not. Calling the other young. But it did sound like he was repeating words. Hmm]
Owed a... lot? [Voice, he needed to remember how to use it for more then giggling at people. Whoops. They say if you don't use it you lose it.]
[Ward's never without a sack these days. A sack full of candy mostly because it gives him something to do when he's not working. With no cops, there have been at least two people who crossed his path who he could - say - beat up?
Only he's never been afraid of direct confrontation until now. He'd normally just beat up people and take their candy but unless he's wearing his cheap wolf mask he doesn't feel like he's capable of it. At all.
No what he feels up to is minor stuff. Like twisting all the books around in the book store so their pages show instead of their spines. It took all day and he can saunter out without the zombie proprietor catching him.
He nearly slams into Mal, sliding to the side as the proprietor raises a hand to the glass.]
[ Just drink the vial attached! the note had said, and rather than shy away from it here Ryousuke was, with Kuramochi at his side. Spookier, creepier things have happened in even the young adult novels he's read, so the whole thing didn't really faze him. Kuramochi? He could tell that he was a little resistant to the whole thing, but all it took was one look and then he was coming with him.
When they get separated, he's not too concerned. But there's no denying he immediately perks and turns the second he hears the familiar name in that familiar voice.
He takes his cap off and backhands Kuramochi in the chest with it, though the gesture is more amused than reprimanding. Still, there is quite a bit of a reprimand there - not from disappointment, but in teasing. You kept me waiting, it says, though his smile doesn't change. ]
There you are. I was starting to think you'd turned tail - did you get lost?
[He snorts. Snarling. There's a vaguely wolfish tint to the sound] I'm owed a lot. And it feels like I can finally take it. Just wish there was more then...candy.
[While Rika's pink hair and black tipped long pointy ears were quite unique, they were features she'd always had, even before arriving here. She was simply taking in the new sight with a bright, excited smile. Though she was completely oblivious to the man behind her until he poked her.
She startled a bit and quickly turned around, ready to fight if needed, but she soon realized that the man wasn't a monster, not really though he did look a little strange. She gave him a small smile.]
[Before long, Sora will have a pink bunny with black tipped ears hopping up next to him before the small fluffy creature rubs its head against one of his legs. Rika had her basket handle in her mouth as well, and on the very top of the small pile of eggs in her basket sits a bright red egg.]
Wesley should have felt nervous shaking the hand of a creature that an hour ago he would have killed without a blink. But death did that to a man. Showed you how different life could be. He half listened to Jack as he talked looking around and trying to see if he recognized anyone. When Jack left him to explore, Wes did so curiously feeling like a young Watcher all over again.
Prompt 4: As Bunny
Wes was not amused. He was so tiny he was afraid someone would step on him. He hopped around trying to find someone he knew. "This is insane even for this place."
2. Town [Goblin] [Peter loves being able to fly through Halloween Town, doffing his cap at whoever he meets. He's not really sure why his finger nails have grown a bit so quickly though, or why he seems to have little bumps on his forehead. Still, he's still him so that's the most important thing.]
[Halloween Town is really fun! Everyone seems to be dressing up in the best costumes and there's so many sweets and no medicine. No wonder he lets out a joyful crow of laughter]
3. Door [He knows that he's meant to go through the egg shaped door, really he does! But there's so many other doors - there's even one that's a green leaf! Maybe that would take him back to Neverland quickly, so he can bring the Lost Boys along for this adventure. He spins around quickly, getting himself dizzy before wandering at random in the direction of a door - no real clue which one it is he's headed too]
2 - Arrival at the town (She's a lycanthrope and her prey animal is a rat, but she hasn't done any partial transformation or anything yet.)
Rika had stayed to listen to the skeleton's explanation because she was curious and even more curious was the fact that he wasn't at all hostile to her like she would have expected. It was a good thing that she listened to him, or else she may have thought that some of these citizens were monsters, and she definitely didn't want to make a bad first impression. This was the very first time she ever left the bio-plant and while this place was nothing like the planets of her solar system she had learned about, it was a brand new experience and sight for her!
Excitedly and with a sense of wonder, she looked around and explored the area. It wasn't very bright, but it was unique. The town's decoration and style were pretty in their own way, and she couldn't help but touch the different styles, learning their textures and creative shapes.
She certainly wasn't scared, but if she had seen anyone that looked to be frightened, she moved towards them to attempt to calm them. She looked like she always had, with long pink hair and long, pointed black-tipped ears, but despite this, she had a kind look in her eyes and expression.
4 - Arrival at Easter Island and egg gathering
Rika was once again very excited to explore yet another new area. She was far from disappointed when she arrived, though it was very strange to suddenly be a small pink bunny with black tipped ears. But this near area was amazing! It was so bright and colorful! She never knew the sky would be so blue or the flowers so vibrant! The grass looked like glossy green candy and before she knew what she was doing, she tried some.
Unfortunately it didn't taste like candy. She had come to love the treats back in Halloween Town, and it looked as though she'd have to wait to go back before getting more of them. But she wasn't in any hurry. She wanted to enjoy and explore this new place as much as she could!
Eventually she met much larger bunny who welcomed her and instructed her to help gather eggs for painting. It was a strange request, but she was always open to try new things. She hopped over to where she was directed, though it took a little bit to really get the hang of the hopping without planting face first into the ground. Her back legs were really powerful!
5 - Easter Egg Hunt
She came to understand why the eggs needed painting and though at first she thought finding the eggs that were already painted was a strange custom, she soon came to love it as she found the reason to finding the eggs. They had treats inside! Some of them were chocolate and some of them had earrings and bracelets in them. She hadn't found any different colored ones than them so far, but she knew there were other colors. Maybe she'd find one of the other ones soon.
[Dimly in the back of his mind he registers that this is a kid, and he should be more concerned but lately since being here...It's not as if it matters does it?
No what matters is the sweet stuff. He's encountered others and he feels more then a little silly carrying around a pillow case full of candy but hell, it's chocolate right? He missed out right? He's dead right?
On to the important stuff. Looking left and right he gestures to her bag.]
You'd get a lot more if you used a pillow case. Makes it easier to stock pile and you cut holes in it if you have to uh - run.
[The zombie proprietor of the book store is making his way towards the front stoop and Ward - glancing over his shoulder - frowns.]
Speaking of which. Can we make our way downtown? So to speak?
[Ward's not entirely thrilled with the fact that he was handed a cloth wolf's head that looks like it was made by a five year old and a dirty looking pillow case. Trick or Treat! but there's a small stack of candy inside and he takes the time to pull a lollipop out and suck on it upon occasion. The guy looking around gets a cursory glance.]
Making plans to leave?
[Never go into the woods without back up. that's always a good rule and exploring the town...]
[Lindsey is the cutest little ducky to ever duck thank you. But having met Angel's pal awhile back the former lake monster is ruffling his angry little yellow feathers.]
I ain't workin'. I mean just saying. I ain't doing nothing with these damn eggs.
[Angry flapping wings are go. You know being a lake monster? Isn't so bad. It's more in keeping with wolfram and hart's tradition but no matter how much he squawks at Jack Lindsey's somehow ended up in the one dimension that has no connection to his bosses.
Okay this was new. He'd never died and stayed this dead before. He listened to the other Jack and then floated away to explore with a sad expression on his face. Jack lived for touch and being unable to do so hurt deeper then he would ever admit.
Prompt 3
Jack looks at the tree shaped door with a frown. Halloween Town was weird no doubt about that...but now Christmas. That holiday was a bit more his speed, but who knew what he'd find...or become when he turned the knob. With a sigh he reached out ready for almost anything.
[Awkwardly it doesn't seem nearly as funny now that it's over. He pulls off the mask, just enough so that he can see his paler-then-normal face before he stares at his bag and then back at the shop. He licks his lips.]
It was just a prank.
[There's a distinct look of unease on his face.]
...I'm not usually the kind of person who pulls pranks. Except the man was an jackass and -
[He had no candy.]
He had no candy...You ever look back at something and actually regret it?
[It's a slightly new feeling for him. Especially since they can't apparently leave Halloween town and he's feeling more and more like he doesn't want to.]
Why would I regret pulling a prank? It's their fault if they haven't got a sense of humour. Also, they didn't have candy? In Halloween Town. Dude had it coming to him.
[Good thinking kid. Very good thinking. That wipes away Ward's qualms for a moment. His grin's wolfish as he swings the bag in his hands slightly, turning a corner.]
He said it was "a place of learning". I said fine. It took me a couple of hours but it was worth it it's gonna take him days to fix all of that.
[Still. His stomach rumbles and he reaches for the bag before he frowns. It's relatively empty.]
...What would you say to a team up for a bigger score?
[He should get - soup. Or - something, his land lady's been willing to make him cooked meat as opposed to the raw stuff other zombies get but it's not enough. It's never enough as far as candy goes.]
I keep an eye on the shops in these parts of Halloween town.
[Mal leans against the wall, and glances Ward up and down. He's older, yeah, but sometimes having an adult onside can be ... useful. Besides, there's nothing stopping taking her cut and running if she has to.]
What have you got in mind there, Wolfy? It better be worth my time. Time is candy, and all those pathetic sentiments.
Phil stared at his hands in quiet distress. Losing his hand had been bad enough and now all of him was in pieces. He didn't really listen to what Jack had to say as he wandered among the other residents. If he hadn't felt human before then things were about to get a lot worse.
Prompt 5 as a duck
Phil couldn't remember ever being this small and yet he kind of liked it. Easter Egg Hunts when he was a kid had been fun challenges as he tried to find more eggs then anyone else. Maybe that's why he'd joined SHIELD, because he enjoyed the chase more than the capture. Currently he was sniffing along the ground hunting for a egg with his beak. And really hoping the bigger animals didn't step on him.
