This test drive is meant to provide those who are interested in applying to the game an opportunity to not only experience the setting and mechanics, but to interact with players and characters already in the game!
The threads on the Test Drive Meme may be used for both sample sections of the applications and those already in game may use the threads here to supplement up to ten comments for their AC regardless of whether the player you threaded with applied.
It is up to the discretion of each individual player on whether they would like to use what happens here on the Test Drive Meme as their IC intro into the game.
PLEASE REMEMBER: The monster your character picks will not be official until you are accepted into the game. This is your opportunity to try out all sorts of monster types until you find the one that suits you and your character best!

The Prompts:
Prompt 1 - Arrival: Having just arrived to Halloween Town, you may feel a little queasy. That is entirely natural. You're in a giant circular room with whatever it is you may have brought with you. A very tall figure walks out of the shadows and he's incredibly pale... that is until you realize the hand reaching out to you is not bone-thin, oh no, it is actual bone. Meet the ruler of Halloween Town and the king of Halloween, Jack Skellington. He greets you with a big smile and exclaims with joy how happy he is that you made it and how much happier he is to see you, one hand held out in greeting and the other holding the Jack o' Laptop he has ready for you.
Perhaps you stay to listen to him explain what awaits you and he will then happily escort you outside into the town to provide you a quick explanation before he excuses himself to greet the other new arrivals, leaving you to explore the town. Or, perhaps, the mere sight of a skeleton was... not what you were expecting and you ran out screaming before he can get more than a "Hello-" out.
Either way:
Prompt 2 - The Town: Whether you ran out screaming or were guided out into the town, there are most certainly monsters and ghouls all about. If you were patient enough to wait for an explanation, you know that they are the residents of this holiday. If you ran out screaming? Well, you might be getting more than a few scares- we mean... stares. But the town is just waiting for you to explore! But something is strange. When you look into a mirror or see a glass you look just a tiny bit off. And perhaps you feel just a tiny bit different.
Maybe you don't even have a reflection and all you can feel at the moment is a deep need to feed. Surely someone can help you... provided you can stop screaming at the sight of the citizens long enough.
We wouldn't recommend attacking any of the citizens, however, newborn monster that you are. We wouldn't want you to be a spirit so early in your visit.
Prompt 3 - The First Door: You've now been in Halloween Town for several days and while the zombies eat brains and the vampires drink blood, no one has tried to attack you (unless you've attacked them first, of course). The mayor, driving in his car announces a town meeting! Everyone must come to the Town Hall, even our new arrivals. Jack and Sally explain that Easter is nearly here! And the Easter Bunny has been kind enough to invite you all to experience what it's like to get ready for the holiday! It is time to take your trip through the Hitherlands to the door of Holidays. The path is laid out with Jack o' lanterns and linked bat-light strings between the trees to guide you to the doors. Don't mind that rather ominous entrance, within is perfectly safe... well... at least we think it is. As you travel along the path, you'll come across all the doors, but the one you are seeking is the one currently open. Trying to open the other doors, be it with spells or with force will result in nothing. Do you go in? Do you head back to the town?
Prompt 4 - Easter Island:Welcome to Easter Island! You may need to squint at first, since it's so bright and colorful, the complete opposite of Halloween Town. But once your vision adjusts, you'll notice something... different. You will find you are no longer any monsters but instead you're- well... to put it quite plainly, you're adorable! You have been turned into the citizens of Easter Island! The Easter Bunny welcomes you warmly, quite surprised to see so many adorable newcomers! And you'll find, perhaps without surprise at this point, that you can understand him. So what does he have planned for you?
Prompt 5 - Easter Egg Hunt: No matter what cute, adorable, and fluffy animal or egg ghost you've been turned into, there is an Easter basket waiting for you to go on a hunt! Throughout the entire island, that's yours to explore, are all sorts of different colored eggs. Each differently colored egg offers you a special reward or a certain kind of magic.
If you find:
A red egg: Will make you more inclined to hug and cuddle with the next person you see. A pink egg: Is a dark chocolate egg! Mmm chocolate. An orange egg: Is a milk chocolate egg. Mmm more chocolate. A yellow egg: Will suddenly turn into a small plush animal that replicates the animal you got turned into. It's so soft and fluffy. A green egg: Will turn into a little plastic egg-bracelet or egg earrings. Don't lose them though, the Easter Bunny asked Lady Luck to imbue them with a tiny bit of luck. A blue egg: Will make you burst out into song and you can't stop until you finish that song. A purple egg: A couple extra Holidollars and you get to take that with you back to Halloween Town.
But perhaps an egg hunt isn't something you're interested in! That's completely fine, the citizens need a lot of help getting ready for Easter for people! There's all sorts of jobs you can do! There's egg painting, egg counting, egg gathering, and basket weaving! All of these jobs pay Holidollars and you're making holidays wonderful for children everywhere!
Just don't drop the eggs! We don't want to make more egg spirits! Dropping an egg will bring you a whole day of bad luck as well.

Probably higher. The whole talking to your hand thing is something you can actually change. You're shit out of luck in the Tim Burton's wet dream department, though.
Well, when it stops trying to do things on it's own, I'll stop talking to my hand and reevaluate my life decisions. [it seems to be listening, though, and Meg pulls her hand out of her pocket to cross her arms]
[ The little lamb lowers her head and Zack stands up on his his hind legs to touch his nose to her. Maybe they can be a little more eye level. ]
I dunno, it's kind of nice if you're from the country. [ And it was nice. Boring, but definitely nice. It sort of reminded him of Nibelheim in the spring. Hell, it even reminded him a bit of Gongaga. ] Its just a little slow.
Maybe to make people friendlier to each other? Doesn't really help us get more egg-hunting done or anything though, huh?
[He sounds amused by this though, rather than frustrated. Egg-hunting is plenty fun, but so is making new friends.
In truth, he's never been this close to someone for this long either, except for sometimes when he had friends spending the night and they sort of fell asleep in a pile. Been a few years since that had last happened, though. Still, it somehow feels more natural when they're both in animal form. That, and he wasn't about to just get up and walk away and leave her by herself if this was something she needed. He's not mean.]
We have stuff like that too. Like casting Cure heals people. And potions do that too. And ether lets you cast more magic.
"Yeah, that's true. And Jack's actually a real nice guy, we can always get help from him if we need it."
Live with Snow White? That comes a little unexpectedly, but it would sure beat being alone and he could make sure she was safe, too. He gives a resolute nod, a determined fist, and a smile.
"Okay, let's do it! Uh... let's head this way, I think I remember Jack's house being over here." He attempts to lead her to what he remembers as being the residential area.
"I'm sure he is! He was very polite when we spoke, perhaps a bit rushed for time though," she laughed.
As soon as he said yes, she clapped.
"Oh I'm so glad! I would hate to be lonely in such a new place!" Since Sora attempted to lead her, she took him by the arm, her other hand picking up a bit of her dress. "Lead the way then. I wish they had given us a map, at the very least!"
So this is all different kinds of weird. Akito's not entirely freaked out, despite most of the creatures here being something out of fairy tales. He's mostly a little in awe, spinning circles in place as he attempts to take everything in at once, his AT clicking on the ground. In his head, his other half is busy sulking. Agito's already been pissed at his other half, but now he was mostly just displeased about everything. Particularly the whole 'wait we're not entirely human anymore' issue.
'Why did you have to do and accept that stupid invitation...'
"Because," the light responds out loud, lifting a hand to touch his teeth again. Akito had always had sharper canines than usual, but now the rest of his teeth felt weird. And the scales across his cheeks and the back of his hands... "I didn't know it was going to happen. Though I don't know what we can do now...going home like this seems like it'd be..." Tricky, to understate it greatly. He looked around, feeling a little lost. He'd never really been to a place like this before, Akito wasn't sure where to start.
3. The First Door
The idea of going through the door into a land of easter eggs and chocolate appeals to Akito more than anyone could ever know. While the forest is scary, he's managed to get over his fear and approach it, following the jack o' lanterns to the door.
There though he's gotten distracted by all the other doors. The light doesn't try opening any of them, but he's definitely curious about the patterns on them.
"A Christmas tree is obviously Christmas...and the egg for Easter," he ponders out loud to himself. While he's from Earth, holidays aren't exactly his specialty, tapping his chin as he tries to figure the others out. "There's more doors than I would've thought..."
That's okay. Finding the eggs and getting rewarded is nice, but making friends is better.
[She never really had an opportunity to meet anyone besides Seed and Wren before she arrived on this world. Meeting new people was every bit as exciting as seeing new sights.]
It's interesting how magic is different throughout the universe. The magic here is new for me, but so is the magic you speak of. Magic where I'm from is thought to be long forgotten and the kind I mentioned earlier is actually called Techniques, though it's similar to the magic you mentioned with its connection to the elements and healing. I know of no way to restore the TP needed to use these Techniques other than resting. At least, no item has been found or created to achieve this result.
I wonder if 'ether' will work to restore TP, or if it is solely for restoring the ability to cast magic. Perhaps it wouldn't work with either since the magic is not the same.
"Well, won't it be exciting when we get to explore the other doors?" Snow White asked behind him, her hands clasped in front of her. "The letter said that we will get to meet all the holiday leaders, whatever or whoever that may be! What holidays do you have back home? Do you only have Easter and Christmas? We don't have something called Halloween where I'm from."
At first, Asriel had been hesitant about taking the potion. On one hand, it was lonely in the Underground. On the other, he'd never forgive himself if he turned back into a flower during his visit to "Halloween Town" and terrorized everyone. Rest in peace knowing we have the ability to bring you here good as new or just as dead as you like! Okay, that part caught his attention. Curiosity triumphed in the end as he downed the potion, feeling it gurgling in his belly.
"H-Howdy..." He feels disoriented, but he smiles and listens to Jack. The skeleton's enthusiasm and charm reminds him a little of Papyrus, but not quite as noisy. Maybe this won't be so bad after all.
2a. The Town (Lycanthrope)
It's too hot. The weather in town is chilly, yet Asriel is sweltering. His fur had gotten bushy and matted and it itches everywhere. There's horns growing above his ears, and they're not much better. In his stress, Asriel sought the most crowded places imaginable. It's... weird, but it helps. Goblins, ghosts, it doesn't matter who they are or how loud or quiet they get. The more monsters gathered around him, the safer he felt. With so many people around, maybe he can gather the courage to ask someone what's going on with him.
2b. The Town (Spirit)
The first thing Asriel noticed was he can fly. He'd always dreamed of flying, and he used to draw his character having the biggest and coolest wings in the world splashed with rainbows. He must have zipped around the town for hours!
So when he saw his reflection in a mirror, his reaction was... mixed. Of course he's dead. His body turned to dust and spilled over his father's garden. It meant he finally died... no amount of Determination can trigger a reset in Halloween Town. On the other hand, it meant that it's too late. Just when he realized the capability of feeling joy and love would never be taken from him again, and the knowledge that he won't lose "himself" again... it came with a bittersweet price.
His sobs are no different from the knell howling across Halloween Town.
3 - The First Door (Trick-or-Treater)
"Golly! I can't wait to see what Easter Island is like!" Asriel beamed, clutching the giant bag he had grown accustomed to carrying with him. As much as he liked Halloween Town, he missed seeing bright colors like blue and pink, and he liked the idea of being in tall grass under a bright sunny day. He remembered his best friend talking to him about Easter, where humans would dye eggs and leave candy around for kids to find. "The Easter Bunny isn't real," they said. "But the chocolate is worth it."
Asriel licks his lips and lifts his mask in anticipation. His drawing skills haven't gotten rusty, and it turns out he's getting better at this sort of thing. The joke's on you now, Chara! The Easter Bunny IS real after all! And he's going to get all the chocolate he wants.
Oh hey someone behind him makes him jump a tiny bit, but he makes up for it by smiling and not being too embarrassed. Sometimes when he focuses on things he forgets that there might actually be other people around.
"Yeah! I'm looking forward to it, I've never been anywhere like this before." Akito taps his chin as he thinks on the question. "There's a lot of holidays where I come from, though I don't remember all of them. We definitely have Halloween though! It's kind of fun, even if it can be scary sometimes."
Snow White is as harmless as they come, and she smiles sweetly at Akito, simply amazed by his blue hair.
"Oh, it does seem that way, fun and scary, but I quite hope that this holiday won't be scary too! But why don't we head in together, if that's what worries you?"
Don't worry, Akito was just a tiny bit paranoid from past life events.
"It shouldn't be, unless this place is really weird. Easter is usually fun!" He was kind of biased because Akito had a sweet tooth like no-one else, and Easter meant chocolate. "But sure! I've been wondering about how each place is going to be different."
There's a sadness that came to Anna as well upon discovery she was a Spirit, and couldn't physically interact with the living. She could talk to them of course, but to not be able to touch seemed like a cruel fate. She could, of course, go back home again eventually, according to Jack. And while it was true she'd briefly died once, she'd been brought back to life, so she'd be living again when she returned home. This knowledge kept her at least somewhat positive. It's an Anna trait, to stay hopeful in the worst of situations.
She hears the crying before she sees Asriel, but searches for the source of the noise. Once he's found, she'll float closer to him, hesitating only out of fear he may be scared by her and run away.
"What's wrong?" There is a rather obvious answer here of course, she knows, but she doesn't really want to presume anything.
Anna is getting settled nearby, having also just arrived, and she stands up with a bit of a staggering motion as her vision sways for a second. "Woah..."
Her arms windmill briefly before she steadies herself on a nearby... what looks to be a mad scientist work bench? With things on it that Anna has never seen before in her life. Among them though, there's a large, empty glass beaker, and she picks it up to hand it over to Mint after hearing what she'd said. "Well, just in case?"
Still getting used to being a spirit, essentially a ghost, Anna decides to look on the bright side of things: like, hey, at least she can float now? Doing so meant she could travel around the town fairly quickly, above others, so she'd been several places before she returned to the town square to see Roxas looking confused.
She floated down until she landed beside him. She'd even been about to tap his shoulder before she remembered that she wouldn't be able to touch anyone. So she just speaks instead, and hopefully doesn't startle the boy. "Hi, are you lost?"
Anna can be heard before she's seen, the sound of the jingling little bell around her neck preceding her arrival as she walks toward the bunny. She's a lamb, white with ginger ears and a few pale ginger spots, the bell around her neck tied on with green ribbon.
"Really cute, and this place is a lot brighter and more sunshiny than Halloween Town! I'd almost forgotten what some of these colors looked like," she jokes.

Asriel sniffled and wiped his eyes. He turned around at the sound of the human's voice, but he wasn't afraid. He's... kind of relieved, actually.
"You can see me?" The goat child asked. He smiled a little. Maybe he was afraid. Maybe not so much of death, but being alone. He'd been willing to die if it meant he could be with his best friend again. Even if things had gone wrong and their "plan" had blown up in their face (partly his fault, haha... but he doesn't regret making that decision. Not anymore), he could be with them and play together in the next life, whatever that entailed. That's why he's in Halloween Town in the first place, isn't he? So he wouldn't be lonely again. So he wouldn't keep forcing himself into isolation while waiting for the inevitable.
"I'm fine, actually." He continued. "This is the first time in a long time that I've been so happy, and feeling what it's like to love and be loved in return. More like... you feel something when people care about you, which is enough to make you care for others, you know?" He frowned and looked at the mirror again, where his ghostly self hovered. "I'm here because... I didn't want to lose that. I didn't want to stop feeling love again."
